Early Education

What does it provide for your child?

Opportunities to have fun, play and learn by discovering, investigating, exploring, experiencing, making friends,

talking, sharing, using books, feeling secure and settled in the setting.

Establishing routines in a safe, secure and stimulating environment with qualified staff providing a variety of

activities and experiences in all areas of a child’s learning and development.

You may apply by completing the necessary admission form which is available from the school, or for further

information please contact the Early Education Helpline on 01978 317666.

Approved settings must:

  • have suitable qualified staff,
  • be inspected by Estyn,
  • provide the stated sessions,
  • accept the support of a qualified teacher on a regular basis,
  • attend Early Education Training provided by the LEA.

Securing a place at an Early Years setting does not give you an automatic place at nursery.  This must be

applied for separately on the nursery admission form available form each school or the Admissions Department at

Ty Henblas.

The Welsh Assembly Government has funded an initiative which entitles your child to attend an approved Early Education setting in the TERM following their third birthday.  This is in addition to the existing LEA Nursery provision in schools in the September following the child’s third birthday.

This will mean that a funded education place will be available from January (spring term) for children born between 1 September and 31 December.  A funded place will also be available from April (summer term) for children born between 1 January and 31 March.

Your child can have a place in an approved setting for either:

  1. Five sessions a week, one per day, of 2 hours duration, or
  2. Four sessions per week, one per day, of 2½ hours duration.

At Eyton we run our Early Years sessions from 9.30am - 12 noon, Monday to Thursday.
