These are some of the areas that we cover in our Victorian topic:

  • place the Victorian period in a historical timeline
  • compare Victorian life with life today
  • research Victorian life in our locality
  • trace the monarchy timeline back from the present day
  • understand the significance of the British Empire
  • identify the countries which still have a strong British legacy
  • research key Victorian people who made changes that affect
the way that we live today
  • compare the Victorian education system with their own education
  • be aware of working conditions, the Factory Acts and the role of children in factories
  • comparisons of law and order
  • comparisons of working, middle and upper classes
  • understand how developments in transport and machinery changed the world in which we live
  • investigate, through independent research, a famous Victorian pioneer who's contribution made significant changes that still have impact on our life today.

The children visited the Victorian Schoolrooms in Llangollen to find out what a day in the life of a Victorian child was REALLY like!
