Key stage 1 need to consider a contrasting locality beyond Wales and Key stage 2 are using the topic of the weather to develop geographical skills
 

  • Through studies of homes around the world, be able to compare lifestyles of people in different areas of the world.
     
  • Develop an understanding of localities and how they relate to other places, such as the sea, rivers or railways.
     
  • Through their investigations become more aware of the wider world.
     
  • Use the vocabulary of physical and human geography to describe the features of a locality and homes.
     
  • Consider how the location of homes affects their character.
     
  • Respond to the question, 'Why are things like that?'
     
  • Show a basic understanding of how the features of a locality affect human activities.
     
  • Discuss the similarities and differences between our rural village and similar locations around the world.
     
  • Use secondary sources to obtain information such as CD Rom, photographs, the internet, video and accounts from other adults.
